In 1286, a young William Wallace witnesses the treachery of Edward Longshanks’, when he survives the deaths of his father and brother, and is taken abroad on a pilgrimage throughout Europe by his paternal Uncle Argyle, where he is educated. Years later, under Longshanks’ rule, Wallace suffers a personal loss at the hands of his men, and becomes the unlikely leader of a rebellion to free Scotland.
